Overview

Children’s Program Volunteers create a safe, positive, and engaging environment for children during weekly Circles meetings. While parents participate in the adult portion of the program, volunteers lead age-appropriate activities and build encouraging relationships with the children.

Through consistency, creativity, and mentorship, volunteers help children feel supported and included throughout their family’s participation in Circles.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead age-appropriate games, learning activities, crafts, and group discussions. Help supervise children, maintain a safe environment, encourage positive behavior, and build supportive relationships with participants. Volunteers work with program staff and other volunteers to respond to the needs of each age group.

Who Can Get Involved

This role is ideal for dependable and caring adults who enjoy working with children. Experience in education, childcare, mentoring, youth ministry, or recreation is helpful but not required. Volunteers should be patient, encouraging, and able to commit to building relationships over time.

Logistics

Volunteers attend weekly Circles meetings at Friends In Deed and are asked to remain involved for the full cohort, which lasts approximately 18 months. Meetings generally take place in the evening. Training, activity guidance, and program support are provided.
