This position is an important part of the Essential Services program. By offering a calm, respectful, and compassionate response, Helpline Volunteers help ensure that every neighbor who contacts Friends In Deed feels heard and supported.

Listen carefully, collect accurate information, explain available services, document requests, and direct each person to the appropriate next step. Volunteers may also provide basic administrative support and follow established confidentiality and intake procedures.

Who Can Get Involved

This role is a good fit for patient, dependable, and compassionate adults who are comfortable speaking with people experiencing stressful situations. Volunteers should have strong listening and communication skills, basic computer skills, and the ability to handle personal information with care and confidentiality.
