Overview
Furniture Warehouse Volunteers help donated furniture move from intake to delivery. They organize, prepare, and move items throughout the warehouse so that furniture is ready to be provided to neighbors who need it.
This is a hands-on role that directly supports the daily operation of the Furniture Program. By keeping the warehouse safe and organized, volunteers help Friends In Deed serve more households efficiently.
Responsibilities
Receive, sort, inspect, organize, and prepare donated furniture and household items. Volunteers may move furniture, assemble or lightly clean items, organize inventory, prepare selections for pickup or delivery, and help maintain a safe and orderly warehouse.
Who Can Get Involved
This role is a good fit for dependable adults who enjoy active, hands-on work. Volunteers should be comfortable standing, bending, and moving items during their shift. The ability to safely lift and carry furniture with assistance is helpful. Volunteers should also be willing to follow warehouse safety procedures.
Logistics
Volunteers work in the Friends In Deed furniture warehouse during program hours, Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A commitment of at least one regular shift per week is preferred. Closed-toe shoes and clothing appropriate for warehouse work should be worn.
