Furniture Client Services Volunteer

Support the administrative side of the Furniture Program and help neighbors select the items they need to make a house a home.

Overview

Furniture Client Services Volunteers support neighbors who are working to create safe, comfortable, and functional homes. Volunteers help with the administrative and client-facing side of the Furniture Program, guiding participants through the process of selecting available household items.

This role combines compassionate service with organization and attention to detail. Volunteers help make the furniture selection process welcoming, efficient, and respectful for every household served.

Responsibilities

Welcome and assist Furniture Program participants, explain the selection process, help clients review available furniture and household items, and accurately record their selections. Volunteers may also schedule appointments, update client information, answer basic questions, and provide general administrative support to the program.

Who Can Get Involved

This opportunity is well suited for friendly, patient, and organized adults who enjoy working directly with people. Volunteers should be comfortable using a computer, communicating clearly, and supporting individuals and families from a variety of backgrounds.

Logistics

Volunteers serve at Friends In Deed during office hours, Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A commitment of at least one regular shift per week is preferred. Training is provided on the Furniture Program, client service procedures, and any systems used to record selections.
