As a part-time Housing Caseworker, my mission is to extend eviction prevention and security deposit assistance to eligible Washtenaw County residents. My journey spans over 25 years in various administrative roles within the non-profit sector. However, a turning point arrived in February of this year when our executive director, Sarah Thornburg, reached out to invite me into the Friends In Deed family. I’m enthusiastic about this new chapter and eagerly anticipate the opportunity to contribute positively alongside this dedicated team.
Over the past year and a half, our organization has witnessed a substantial increase in housing financial assistance requests from Washtenaw County residents. This heightened demand reflects the critical need in our community, as more families struggle with soaring rent and limited affordable housing options. Our mission is clear: to offer stop-gap funding for residents facing eviction or seeking help with security deposits.
This role allows me to serve my community by extending a helping hand, treating every individual with mercy, grace, and unwavering hope. Our clients are hardworking, independent, and resilient individuals who face daily challenges with extraordinary strength.
As we move forward, I’m excited to be part of this collective effort to provide essential assistance to our neighbors in need. Together, we can make a significant impact, ensuring that every person in our community can find stability and hope during challenging times.
With warm regards,
Latania Fair
